Natural Light Office Space couldn’t be a better way to describe our updated office loft! Gone are the days of relying on artificial lighting for doing homework and bills. Let alone feeling uninspired to design projects in here.

Yup, absolutely no natural light. This was dark, dark, dark.

Natural Light Office Space: Real Light is best

As much money and time we spent in maximizing the functional space in here, one thing we couldn’t change was the lack of natural light. We added a substantial amount of puck lights and recessed lighting. But during the day, I crave working with natural light.

Perhaps it invirogrates me physically and gets my creative juices flowing. 

All I can say is that I need it to work.

Cue the VELUX Sun Tunnel installed up above. Now look at this picture unedited.

I know, you can’t believe it either! If you thought my master bathroom VELUX Skylight transformed the space.

I could reckon the VELUX Sun Tunnel equally achieves light and bright vibes in here.

 

I am so thrilled beyond belief. Even though we don’t have windows, the sense of natural light streaming down makes me want to do the happy dance every time I walk by!

You may think I am exaggerating. I can assure you, I AM NOT.

Natural Light Office Space: Plant Reminder

Adding a baby Monstera plant in here has also invited wellness to this lovely corner. My lovely larger Monstera didn’t make it and it has been awhile since I dared to invite one back.

The symbiotic relationship with natural light and plants in the home are as synonymous as coffee and sugar. One cannot live without the other.

You put the two together and voila, your senses are heightened and good vibes transcend.

The color green signifies not only renewal but intelligence. So if you are studying, reading, or creating something,  place a plant by your side!  Having a green plant around is scientifically proven to increase positive brain activity and memory skills.

If that isn’t a reason to bring in a plant, I don’t know what is!

Natural Light Office Space: Time management

Lately, I have learned to train myself with laser focused intensity to stay on track. I place my phone in another room. I write down my task at hand and tell myself the exact time down to the minute of how long I must work on it. I may not finish, but I am to do nothing but that task in the designated time.

Folks, it has been very helpful and I encourage you to try it out! I have read that tackling a task in 20 hyper focused intense minutes works well too.

Now that the natural light office space equips me to level up on productivity, I am excited to see what more I can create for you!

Natural Light Office Space: Beautiful Aesthetics

Working at home doesn’t need to be drab. I decided that even though we chose to get new carpet a few years ago, I would make it work.

Natalie was still in diapers and we felt it was safer to have a soft landing in case she tripped and fell.

Yes, taking Instagram pictures can be challenging because obviously wood floors would complement my rug layering game that much more.

However, that has never stopped me from working with what I have and being grateful for it.

So adding my beloved vintage runner seemed logical as it is a long and skinny space.

Mixing and matching chairs for some fun has made the eclectic vibes really shine!

I mention design surprises a lot. And this one mades my heart swoon!

I moved the wall grid from my dreamy desk corner over here. 

It frames the wall space perfectly whilst adding functionality so I can pin all my creative mood board samples.

Besides plants, florals are another splurge I like to take part in from time to time. They make my senses explode with happiness. I see and smell the beauty the flowers bring in.

When I say make bring in things that balance you, this is one consistent way to do that.

Since this loft is quintessential small space living, I tried very hard to not make it feel too much like a bowling alley. Adding layered art along the walls helped! It provides pretty visuals without much commitment. Want to change it up? No problem, swap in different sizes and styles anytime. No holes to patch. The best design hack if I ever knew one.

Natural Light Office Space: Cabinetry Hardware

Lastly, I love sharing great sources at an affordable price for everyone. The brass cabinet pulls and knobs are from Amazon! I know, what doesn’t Amazon sell? Well, I am very excited to share this source because the quality is impeccable at a fraction of the cost of high end hardware.

It is pretty heavy and the aged brass color is just right. I am pretty pick with brass finishes.

It can’t be too brushed, too aged or too bright. And these are juuuust right.

Now with the natural light streaming in, the cabinet hardware is even more beautiful!

As I write this, I am feeling so.much.gratitude. So much love for natural light and the opportunity to bring into a space that frankly I had written off a long time ago.
